has anyone ever done highlights at home

I was at the store yesterday and I picked up feria quick shimmer highlights in carmel. It looked really nice on the box. I have never dyed my hair at home. I let all my highlights grow out from years ago but i desparately need a change. Im starting to grow tired of the same old brown hair everyday. Has anyone ever used this or done higlights at home? Im scared

I usually do it with a demi (semi perm) color

I always figure if it looks like crap I can dye right over it
