DH is not helping
Ok so yeah, I'm emotional this morning. Just called RE to make CD3 appointment. I got off the phone and DH starts bombarding me with questions. "So what are my responsibilities now?" So I explained that we're going to have to go to injection classes so he can learn how to give me my shots and then I showed him the post on here with the table full of drugs and he started freaking out. He started asking about perhaps we should take a break and do research on what the ramifications of all these drugs are....what are the side effects? Can they cause cancer? He is beginning to sound like this is not something to persue. Are any of his concerns valid? I'm so emotional right now that I cant even think straight and its probably best if I dont discuss this topic with DH at the moment.

I think its normal to carefully evaluate your options. It sound slike he is genuinely interested in what is going on.

I don't think there is anything wrong with him being concerned. It is a lot to take in. Why don't you have him go to the RE with you for your IVF consult. He can ask about all his concerns. You can also do some research with him. He is just concerned for your well being. Honestly, if I knew DH had to take that amount of drugs, I'd be concerned too.

I agree, sitting down with our doctor to discuss the IVF process, what DH's part in it is, and the ins and outs of it, my DH felt much better about it. He had the opportunity to ask all his questions directly instead of receiving it 2nd hand from me.

Re: DH is not helping
That was my DH's reaction to my RE's recommendation that we need IUI's to get pregnant. He was floored and shell shocked, and reeled back.
I gave him a few days to absorb the information and then made a consultation appointment with my RE so we could all discuss it together, and then made an appointment with my ob/gyn, who DH trusts implicitly, to get his advice.
A day later, I was cooking something in the kitchen, he came up from behind, gave me a hug and told me he was ready.
For some people it just takes a little more time... be a little patient

Re: DH is not helping
I think it's totally normal for your DH to be concerned. We as women usually tend to do alot more research and we also know more because of the wonderful ladies on this board. For your DH it's new and its overwhelming. I agree with having your RE sit down and explain the process in details to you and your DH. Good luck

Re: DH is not helping
my dh freaked out also once he realized we were heading towards ivf. But once we sat down with the NP for our IVF interview, he felt so much better. He said she was very informative and answered all his questions. I just found it funny that we had been getting iui's since June and I kept trying to tell him how important it was and that if this didn't work we were going to have to do ivf. I guess it didn't mean anything to him at the time, because he never cared and then when I told him the last iui didn't work he started to freak and ask all these questions and I was like "now you care are you kidding". Men definitely handle it differently than we do. good luck!

This whole process is a lot for anyone to take in. Give him some time to process all that is going on. Good Luck! BOTB
