Re: Baby shower dilema and my mother..........

I don't have siblings, but I wouldn't mind if her shower was then....

HOWEVER, what if you give birth early? say..... 12-14 days early? how would your mom focus on the shower if the new grandchild was around, and you were released the same day as the shower?

she clearly hasn't thought this out too well...... I think it would have to be a month before or a month after you are due to be safe.....

She says if I am in labor she hopes the waitnig room allows the party to continue there!!!!!!!!!!!!

well that's simply ridiculous! I think your sister has to straighten her out on this one. She really isn't thinking.... why is she so dead-set on that date anyway???!!

I don't think she's thought it through at all. She literally will be torn between ruining your sisters shower by cancelling it at the last moment, or neglecting you... she's gotta snap out of it! Chat Icon

Honestly I wouldn't be to happy either. I think you and your sister should talk to your mom. It would really stink to miss her shower...which there is a very good chance you will.

Re: Baby shower dilema and my mother..........

Aaww that is sweet what your sister said, but pretty rough that your mom won't budge. Even if she doesn't listen to you, I wonder why she doesn't want to listen to your sister regarding her own shower! I agree that it would be worse on your mom to have to cancel everything at the last minute if you are delivering that day or something as opposed to you coming a few weeks PP. Plus, even if you don't deliver until afterwards, how many people do you hear reporting that they were in the mood for a party just 10 days before they have a baby? Isn't that the swollen, achy, OMG-get-this-baby-out-of-me-time? Chat Icon Chat Icon

I honestly think that having the shower after you have the baby (that close to having your baby) will be harder on you. You might have a better time if you're still pregnant. But, I don't know the full story.

Re: Baby shower dilema and my mother..........

I would not worry about the fact that the shower will be before you give birth. It's just the time before you are due.

I would just say matter of fact that you might not make it and that's it. You don't want any comments on or guilt trip. She is scheduling the shower. That would be her fault.
