Then I need to state how I will contnure my role as blank blank as I have been doing..

Its very complicated why I am writing this letters but I need to figure out how to word it..

I don't think I'd use recant there -- I think you can only recant testimony? Maybe "I'd like to withdraw my resume from consideration"? (I don't know if you submitted one, though.) Hope I helped...

Re: Is recant a word?

It is and it works in that sentance, or you could also use "rescind"

Recant = to make a formal retraction
Rescind = to cancel officially

can i say this...

Dear xxxx.

I would like to formally retract any interest I had expressed in the so and so position. I will continre to do my current job to the best of my ability and wanted to make you aware of my decision prior to the restructure of our department.

Re: Is recant a word?

Yes recant is a word and means To make a formal retraction or disavowal of (a statement or belief to which one has previously committed oneself).
you could also use renege which means To break a promise or commitment; to go back on one's word.
Personally I think recant is the better of the two.

I guess recant does work. I think what you have there is fine. I would just change restructure to restructuring.

It is a word, but that's not the right usage. I think I'd say :

"I'd like to formally withdraw myself from consideration for the XYZ position. . ."
