Crib help please!

Convertible crib or not is the question of the day.

I guess the convertible would make more sense. I just keep thinking that baby #2 will be coming sometime around when baby #1 is 3. (that is the tentative plan at least)

So we would have converted it to the bed by then and need to put it back to crib for baby #2 and wind up getting a toddler bed anyway.

Any advice, insight, experience?

Re: Crib help please!

this is exactly what I am battling now too. By the time #2 is born, do we get a crib or a bed for DD?

Re: Crib help please!

ok I know this is going to sound confusing

we got the convertible crib, we figure baby #2 will come when baby #1 is about 2 years old. So we will buy a toddler bed, and use the crib for baby 2, when baby 2 is ready for a toddler bed we will convert the crib, baby 1 will move onto that, and baby 2 will take over the toddler bed.

I got a convertiblle because even if I have another child I will want the first to have the bed that matches the rest of his furniture. Same for second.

We're getting a convertible crib. I figure, even if I have 15 kids, they'll all need beds too, right?

So for number 2 you would buy another entire bedroom set? (changing table, dresser, crib, etc?)

Now that I think about it I think I've solved my own problem. I will give the older one a toddler bed and buy new furniture and give baby #2 crib set + matching furniture. Crib being a convertible which #2 will stay in.

Re: Crib help please!

We got a drop down side crib for DD#1. In the beginning it did not matter, but when we lowered the mattress, if the side did not go down, I would not have been able to reach her to good. My SIL had convertible and the side did not go down and I struggled when I babysat. I could not imagine having a p/g belly and trying it.
Just something to consider.
BTW: DD#2 is getting DD#1's furniture and crib and DD#1 is getting new furniture and is very excited about it.

This is what I think I'm going to do as well.

I too want a convertable crib and now that you mention that, it will take up almost half of the babies room. I told my 18 year old that she has to be out in a few years so we can use her big room. Chat Icon
