Running?

I usually run 2 miles 4 times a week on a treadmill. I just found out I'm pregnant and the doctor doesnt' want to see me for a few weeks. Should I take it easy or workout as normal?

Thanks!

Re: Running?

Everyone is different, but I found that I could not really run anymore. Not only was my energy level down, but but my breasts were so sore that it made it painful to run. Sports bras did not help.

I wound up switching to the elliptical trainer.

Re: Running?

I continued running through my whole pregnancy...my doctor wanted me to continue my regular workouts as I was able to...I stopped running at around 35 weeks and switched to walking instead...I walked a few miles a day until I gave birth!

Re: Running?

The doctor told me to do as much/any excercise I wanted, but to keep the heart rate below a certain rate (can't remember if it was 140 or 150). Bravo to you if you still feel like running...I was too tired the first trimester to do anything.

Re: Running?

My cousin is a marathon runner and ran during pregnancy up until it was no longer comfortable. Which, much to her disappointment, was pretty early on.

Re: Running?

I used to run about 5 miles, 4 times a week. I had the same route for a long time and days before testing, I found myself stopping 3 or 4 times during the run. Sure enough that Saturday I got my BFP! I should have known something was not right, I ever used to stop!

I did not run again! Just couldn't finish the runs. I kept to teaching aerobics and walking.
