This entire case has always been more about politics than about justice. So, there is finally a Special Prosecutor on the case. This is something that Tankleff's people have spent years asking for, and the DA fought it every step of the way. Now, the DA asked for one at a time when he had no more cards left and all that many Suffolk citizens see is that the DA asked for a Special Prosecutor, as if he is so ethical.

Last week, Eric Naiberg wrote a letter to Newsday in which he proclaimed Marty's guilt and kissed up to the DA and law enforcement. I don't believe for a minute that he did this because of any sense of justice. He likes to see his own name in the paper, he is commenting about the people who offer him deals on his cases and there are rumors of him running for some sort of office.

Believe it or not, I do understand, in a way, why the case against Marty cannot be dismissed this week, as I believe that it will be dismissed eventually. For all I know, the expectation as to what will happen in court on Friday has changed once again. What I do not understand is all the double talk.
