Ever have this happen to you?
I went to King Kullen last night around 8:30pm. I bought an item that had a save $1 now coupon attached. The cashier looked at the coupon and said it was expired. I said, it was attached to this product that is on your shelf. Still wouldn't honor it. I went to the courtesy desk...they wouldn't honor it. I asked to speak to a manager and she said there was no manager on.
Took my name and number..
I gave it the 2 minutes it deserved and moved on, bought the item and went home.
Is it worth a call or letter?

I would call the main office of King Kullen. I would also call the manufacturer of the item. If they placed a sticker on an item with an expiration date past the coupon date it is their fault too.

The manufacturer is sending me a new coupon. A lot of good it does me for this purchase but for the next it will be ok.
I'm still calling the store.

No manager on duty? There should have at least been a supervisor! I would mentioned that too when you call the main office. Like a PP said, it isn't the $1, it is the priciple

same thing happened to me at Waldbaums
it was like I was trying to pull one over on them!
then she accused me of trying to steal DVDs
they have a machine in the lobby that rents them for $1 - which is where I got them from!
I called the manager- we had a nice talk

I've worked in retail. A lot of what I do now is like retail. And for $1 I would make the customer happy. I've done this where THOUSANDS of dollars were in play.

Retailers NEED repeat customers in order to survive and thrive in a highly competitive environment. Customer satisfaction is key to repeat business hence the term the customer is always right. They might NOT be "right" - but if you want their next purchase in your store/website/insert purchasing vehicle here, you should probably let them think so.

I agree, the customer is NOT always right, I hate that saying
not speaking about the op, but in general

I never heard of a supermarket that didnt have a manager on duty. That was a BS line...I would have gone right to the Curtesy desk and spoken to someone....

I've worked in retail also and tiried to do whatever I could to make an irate customer happy.
