Cameras on sale?
Anyone know when cameras generally go on sale? I've tried researching online...they say that appliances are on sale certain weeks of the year (every year), cars, etc...anyone know about cameras?
I want a Digital SLR and didn't have the $ while the Christmas sales were on.

Have you checked ebay? Alot of the big camera retailers sell amazing packages on ebay.
Let me know if you need help finding something.
ETA that I was told that April is the best month to get a dig camera.

Oh, thank you! I didn't really want to wait until April, I wanted to put some of our tax refund $ towards it that we'll have in mid-February.
I am an Ebay moron...never used it! I'm specifically looking for the Nikon D40 or D80, with some basic lenses at least for now.

they're selling the D80 with all those extras for 964... so not EXACTLY a smidge, but still only less than 100-200 more.

I believeSunshine Electronics is the actual STORE, but their handle on ebay is digital shopping network. I've researched a bunch of these sellers on ebay before purchasing mine, and so far they have the best deal.

Not sure I understand EXACTLY what that means, but I have a full warranty with repair tech in nj.
I was suspicious as well...and spoke to a few people at the store...(and other ebay stores) the was it was explained to me was that because selling online is so competitive they have to offer packages like this as a lower rate... to gain more business.
Everything was delivered to me quickly, with no problems and all the equipment works wonderfully. I can bring it into any nikon dealer for repair under my warranty... Like I said above, some of the *extras* like the flash and cases are cheap and i wouldnt use them, but i was really looking to buy the 2 lenses and the camera itself, which in the long run was still a better deal.
