Anyone with small livingrooms...
please post pics of them. I am having a hard time arranging furniture and picking out an entertainment ctr. thanks.

My living room furniture is not here yet, but what I would do is either find a focal point (fireplace, tv) and group seating arround that or take you longest solid wall and put your sofa against it. Put a side table next to the sofa and a coffee table in front of it. Now depending upon your furniture, you can either put a love seat or one/two chairs opposite or next to the sofa.
Your seating depends upon doors, open spaces, windows and their placement. Perhaps if you posted a photo it would be easier to suggest things.

have you ever tried arrage a room
its free & easy & has most kinds of furniture, it might help you. I agree if you post a pic on here, you'll probably get tons of ideas. I have great room that we use part of as our formal living room, its not small but its really tricky to place the furniture. Good luck!

We have a small living room, which is formal and we hardly ever use it. I had to buy all new furniture to fit in and to keep with the style of the house we went with Queen Anne style side tables and entertainment center, which was the smallest one I could find I didn't get a coffee-table, just two side tables, a small couch and a small wing-backed chair. It may not be to everyone's taste, but I wanted to go for an English sitting-room look. I don't have pics right now, but I will try to take some over the weekend.

livingroom (formal) or den (informal)?
we have a narrow but long den. we can really only utilize a 10 x 12' foot area because the other portion of the room is cut off by the garage door and the small hall to the bathroom. we have a couch, a chair, 2 end tables, a coffee table and 3 bookcases (entertainment center).

Thats OK we have a den and a basement with TV's - don't want to give my DH anymore ideas!
