Sad Mommy over here!

I am extremely close with my parents and they left to go home today. I have been crying the past week leading up to this day. They were here everyday since Justin was born and did so much for us. I am going to miss them terribly.

I keep trying to get my husband to move to Florida so we can be close to family. Maybe I should just cry all day long and he will agree to it.

For those of you that are away from family, how do you deal?

Re: Sad Mommy over here!

We got married in 2002 and moved to Florida then in 2003 moved to Texas then in 2004 moved back to Florida. I haven't been on LI since Dec 24, 2002 because my parents sold there home and moved to NC. I am now very homesick but not even for my family so much I'm just missing the north est and things that are so familar then I connect with christmas especially now with the baby. I balled my eyes out watching the Christmas tree lighting the other night.

My mom flies to our house about once a month and I talk to her about 2x's a day and that helps alot.

My sister had a hard time with it. She was in FL, we were all in NY. She had my cousins down there but it just wasn't the same as having the support she needed.

She dealt with it by running up phone bills. Once a month my mom would go down to FL or she would come up here. It didn't last long though. She eventually moved back here.

Re: Sad Mommy over here!

I know exactly how you feel right now.... I bawled when my mom left right after my son was born. She was here for 2 weeks and was such a lifesaver.

My family is back in NY and it's hard sometimes. Sometimes I really wish I had my mother around for those special moments. We talk on the phone almost everyday and I've seen my parents 3 times since my son was born 6 months ago. They were here for Thanksgiving and my son's baptism last week, which was really nice. I hope to go home again for a weekend next month.

Luckily, I have my ILs who live less than 2 miles away. It's not the same as having my own parents around but they have been a great support system for us.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I know how you feel. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon DH and I were all alone in Ireland when Alex was born. When my parents came I was so excited and crushed when they left. It is hard to be away from family. We saw my parents every 4 months or so. Either we came here or my parents met us some place in Europe. We were there for 18 months and it was very hard for me. I am happy to be home now but while there the thing that got me through the most was looking forward to our next visit.

Re: Sad Mommy over here!

Sorry, I am not in your situation with a baby, but my dad moved to Florida and I miss him and can't imagine when I have a baby and he won't be here all the time. Here's what I did to be able to see and talk to him whenever we wanted, As his moving present, DH and i bought him and us one of those video phone things for the computer so when ever we want to see them and chat we just sign on and can see each other. I know its not the same, but it may help a bit, being able to see them whenever!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
