Is anyone else alarmed over the possible Amtrak strike that will prevent all LIRR trains from going into Penn?

*Shrug*

I'll survive. I live in Huntington and work at World Financial Center

I can either take the LIRR to Flatbush and subway from there or I can take my laptop home and work from home or our office in Melville (which isn't ideal for the office) and worst case scenario I move in with my BIL in Hempstead and take a bus in. Or drive to Kew Gardens and take the subway. Theres always a way.

I always believe that it's my responsiblity to get to work. This stuff is always only temporary and I kinda like having money for food on my table and rent so its worth the inconvienence. *shrug*

I go into the city to take classes twice a week and its already a hassle. I really hope the settle the contract dispute so I dont have to take a train from Ronkonkoma AND a subway from Jamaica. That would add another hour to my commute.

ed: Amtrak definately should have had a contract since 2000, thats ridiculous!

Re: Amtrak strike??

I can still get to work via the E train if they go to Jamaica...I'm also sure they will do bus service as well. It will be nuts there.

Re: Amtrak strike??

I think it would be horrible, but I can't see worrying about it at such an early date. There unfortunately is nothing that we can do about it.

I agree. If it seems like it will really happen I will either commute through Woodside, check out the express bus and park & ride options.

Re: Amtrak strike??

I'm not going to worry about it until it gets closer to the date, then I'll come up with a plan.

Re: Amtrak strike??

Hopefully I will have started a new job in Lynbrook by then.

Otherwise I will do the subway options from the LIRR stops in Queens or BK.

A little bit. DH does a 15 hour day with the LIRR runing on time. I can't imagine how long his day will become if this happens.
