Denver had an allergic reaction - long

Denver was sick last night. He and Holden went in for their annual check up yesterday, got their shots, etc. When we got home, Denver's face swelled up like a balloon. The vet gave his home # so I called and the vet was so kind and met us back in his office last night, no charge. Denver's eyes were swollen shut, and his muzzle was swollen. Our vet said that it was good that we came in because Denver was in Stage 3 of an allergic reaction and Stage 4 is where very serious and lasting problems develop. He gave him a shot and told us to watch him for 24 hours. Poor baby was shaking like a leaf and very upset. When he came home, the swelling went down but he was very lethargic.

Denver is better today. The swelling is down and he looks fine. He is still quiet and not as active as normal but there is a major improvement from last night. our vet called this morning and said that this is normal and to keep an eye on him for the day. Very scary but thank God, it looks like he will be fine. I was very upset last night but feel better today. You know how it is when furbabies are sick!

ETA: I feel bad for complaining yesterday that my vet was expensive -- I was reminded last night why we love him so.

I just saw this...thank God he is okay...that must have been a horrible experience.
