My mother has shingles!
My mother found out today that she has shingles! I was around her and the area before there were blisters and no part of it was "weeping" at the time. I told my OB and she told her doctor. They both basically said the same thing...my exposure was early, I have chicken pox antibodies, I need to stay away from her now, and I have to just make sure I don't have any blisters or itching/burning spots appear within 7-10 days of my exposure.
I'm still worried though! Anybody have any experience with this?

Re: My mother has shingles!
Don't worry! My sister was told she had shingles around Christmas time, and I was worried for myself and my DD. Our Dr's told us that we would have to touch my sister's sores in order to get it, that we were fine to be around her. If you think about it, there are people that can be walking around with shingles everyday, its not contagious like chicken pox.

Re: My mother has shingles!
Well I did touch the area on the first day that it appeared. My mother thought it was a burn and had me put a cream on it. On the fourth day she just had me look at it.
