Can someone check my rationale here?

OK, from what I have been reading (obsessed since the u/s showed nothing) I have learned that hcg only begins to rise after implantation. Since my levels were 781 this means the baby must have implanted. Don't you think if the baby died and detached, showing nothing on the scan, I would have been bleeding? Also, if my hcg levels are 781 that means I must be in week 5 so if the high end of week 4 is 426 then the baby could not possibly have already died because then my numbers should be less than 426 as I am only at MOST 5w2d. Perhaps this is a threatened miscarriage but doesn't make sense that it would have already happened, right? Is what I am saying making any sense?

So can I at least consider myself still pregnant until Monday when I go back to the doctor?

Melijane- what do you think Miss OB/GYN Smarty Pants? You are like a fountain of knowledge. I know I am reading WAY too much into this but I have slight OCD and I am freaking!

I totally understand where you are coming from. I am/have become ultra OCD since I became pregnant. I actually read that due to the hormones rising, you can suffer from anxiety and panic. That was an article in a pregnancy magazine I read this month.

When I went for my sonogram I wasn't sure if I was in my 8th week or what. For the first few minutes my uterus looked empty. I freaked. It took them a while but they found the little bean which was very little only a few centimeters. I was measuring 7 weeks 2 days. Then I heard the heartbeat and all was ok, but I was wondering maybe your sonogram tech stopped looking too quickly and didn't find it. Mine was there but took some prodding...just a thought.

You are probably fine, don't get yourself worked up or stress can hurt you. I don't know what your numbers are supposed to be and when, but it sounds like your numbers are good.

Good luck on Monday and let us know! Chat Icon

You are definitely reading too much into this and creating unnecessary stress for yourself and the baby. The worst thing to have done was to go for a sono, since the chances of seeing anything is slim. Reading through your post, your already assumming the worst and setting youself up for a miscarriage. You need to enjoy this moment, everything will be fine and just try to stay postiive and be patient.
Good Luck on Monday

STOP! I know you have reason to worry with your history but you're stressing yourself out over something you cannot control. I'm almost mad at your MD for giving you such an early sono when it was very possible that you wouldn't see anything.

Your HCG & progesterone are good. Try to enjoy your weekend Chat Icon Chat Icon

You have to stop doing this...the internet can be your worst enemy.
Your beta level is great - it was just too early to see anything.
I had my first sono at almost six weeks and all we could see was the fetal sac/yolk sac. He told me not to expect to see anything at all...didn't see the heartbeat until almost seven weeks.
Relax, by Monday everything will be fine.Chat Icon

1. Your logic actually makes sense!
2. Your hcg is VERY high which is a great sign
3. It was very early
4. You are not bleeding. Relax, drink lots of fluids and take it easy. Chat Icon

Thanks love. I am trying to take it easy and remain optomistic. I won't be sad until I have something to be sad about. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
