What should I get?

My cousin (she was a bridesmaid for my wedding) got engaged in New Zealand in August '07.

She doesn't have her "official" Ering yet, but has a ring that they got in NZ in the meantime.

Her parents (my aunt/uncle) are holding off on the EParty until there's a ring, and my cousin hasn't set a date (other than it's in 2009.)

Just got a call from her friend that's throwing a low-key informal EParty for her, and I really don't know what to give them.....the host said to bring food/drinks/whatever...but I'd rather give the couple something and bring a bottle of champagne....

My question is:
- What do I get for this informal EParty (if it's cash, how much?)
- Then, what do I get for the formal EParty (if it's cash, how much?)

I feel like I'm double-gifting!!!!!!!

Oh, and the thing is....my cousin's FI is a hardcore VEGAN, and my cousin is on a very restrictive diet....b/c of her disease...

which is why I wanted to avoid giving them food/basket stuff.

Re: What should I get?

I would get them something personal and intimate for their informal bash (Maybe a nice bottle of champage and Tiffany flutes?) and for the official e-party, CASH. not sure how much or how close she is to you so it depends.

Re: What should I get?

Why don't you give them a $50 gift card for the informal party
And $150 cash for the formal party?

Re: What should I get?

Honestly, I'd bring them a nice bottle of wine, cheese, crackers, glasses, make a nice basket. When the real party comes, that's when I'd give the cash. But honestly, for the informal party, I wouldn't spend more than $50 or so on a nice basket.

that's a good idea...

I was planning on giving them $200 for the informal w/a bottle of champagne; and then give them $300 for the Formal one....

Re: What should I get?

I would decide what I was going to spend had there been one party- then divide it up between the 2 parties- as another poster said- $50 for one and $150 for the other- if you were planning on spend $200. I don’t think you should be obligated to give 2 gifts….

why don't you give them a gift certificate for a FANTASTIC wedding coordinator.

I know of a great one, if you need any reco's.

I agree with her there babe.

you are way too much fun to be working all night at a family wedding.
