How can I obtain my hostname or IP of the mail server I am using?

to get your IP address, we always use the following web site:
http://www.whatismyip.com/

Pop email via Outlook:
Tools Email Accounts View or Change existing email accounts Next Choose the right account Change
on the top right hand corner should be your pop and smtp hostnames.

And if you're at work and they use MS Exchange, you should still be able to get your server hostname from the Email accounts section.
Just make sure you don't change anything. lol
If you want the IP, you can ping the hostname from a DOS prompt.

That's the POP or IMAP server - they might want the SMTP server, which could be a different machine. Or there might be a spam/AV gateway in the way. Could be part of a cluster, etc.
I agree that asking your tech folks for the info is the way to go. Too many possible options.
