Does any1 suffer from nightmares/terrors?
This has been on going for me for the last few months. Almost every night I wake up with horrible nightmares and my heart is pounding and it feels so real that i literally have to get out of the bed and walk around the house to shake this awful feeling.. I dont kno whats cuasing it, nothing particular.. I just wish I could stop them, its almost always the same--some variation of someone trying to break into my house.. i swear i havent slept well in weeks and weeks and I am almost to the point that I dread bed time. Any suggestions? Thanks

I did for about a month, they were awful, I was waking up crying every night over them. They were very disturbing and I refused to sleep like you. I finally figured out why, i was on a new medication and I checked it out and night terrors/lucid dreams was a side effect. As soon as I stopped taking it, the nightmares stopped as well. Are you taking any meds?

I've had a few since I had my baby. They always involve me trying to protect her from something/somebody. They are horrible. One was sooo bad that I can't even bring myself to tell my DH what it was about.

No suggestions, just .
DH sometimes has night terrors. They are truly scary!!! Once, we were at a conference and he had one. He thought our house was dangling over a cliff, and the only way out was to jump out the window. Well, he tried to open the hotel window to get out!!!! We were on the 12th floor!!! Fortunatley, the windows do not open and he ran to the door to the room. I think the cold air of the hallway brought him out of it.
I was petrified the rest of the night, and he fell back immediately!!
He tends to get them when something's bothering him or we have a fight/disagreement.

Oh man! That's the worst- I'm so sorry you're going through that.
I haven't in a long time but I've gone through phases where in the middle of the night- while I'm sleeping- I get up and I swear to my DH there's some huge creepy scary thing crawling on the wall. He wakes up, is so convinced because I'M convinced that it's real- and there's nothing there. I've also woken up screaming a couple times. NOT COOL. Luckily this hasn't happened in quite a while.
Anyone else ever wake up suddenly and think they saw something that wasn't there? Totally freaky!! You wake up and you're sure you saw something- but it was really in your dream. So freaky.

I had a good friend who suffered from night terrors -- the kind where you get up out of bed and where you scream, but are still sleeping. A doctor called it a chemical imbalance and prescribed Valium and it worked to stop the night terrors.

I have had Night terrors all my life- since a child. The thing about true night terrors is that you usually don’t remember a bad dream- you just wake up with your heart beating so fast you swear you will have a heart attack from it, a general feeling of being scared, and usually screaming bloody murder. Since I got married, my husband would tell me about it in the morning- and sometimes I didn’t have any recollection of it- I would just wake up the next day feeling a bit disturbed and not know why. It really is quite scary to do things in your sleep and not remember them the next morning. Sometimes I would even find myself out of bed- and not knowing how I got there…. What really has helped- believe it or not – is Melatonin. It’s a natural product- you can get it in the vitamin section. I take 3 mg every night before bed… it helps you relax and I find I haven’t had a night terror in a while since taking it…..
