how do u think someone becomes insecure?
my boss is a very insecure person and i always wonder why that is. she is drop dead gorgeous, smart and successful. maybe its me, but i don't see anything there to be insecure about.
so my question is, what do you think makes someone insecure? how do you think they get to be that way?
just curious to hear your thoughts.

Some people may disagree, but I think it has a lot to do with how you're treated during your formative years. When you're an adult though, it's time to take your self esteem into your own hands and be responsible for your own happiness and confidence - sadly, some are too crippled by their past experiences to do that without outside help.

It could be from a variety of things. I was 15 my dad walked out on us. He rarely called and started introducing his new wife's baby as his daughter. She wasn't his, but that really messed me up in the head, I felt like I wasn't good enough. I still struggle with those feelings.
I was in a long term verbally and emotionally abusive relationship which made me feel even worse about myself. I think b/c I was already down on myself I allowed him too much power over me.
Look at that movie The Devil Wears Prada. She was a b!tch on wheels at work, and at home she was a meek little thing who let her husband walk all over her.

I think ultimately aprents are a big part of this..it can also be relationships, but I think if you have a strong sense of security from your parents, you won't get into those kinds of relationships.
I was pretty insecure as a teen (I relaized this when it came out in relationships), and it was probably because when I was growing up NOTHING I did was ever good enough for my parents, it was never right. I was the cliche smart kid who brought home 99's and my parents asked why it wasn't 100 (never mind that you can't get higher than 99th percentile on standardized tests...it took me awhile to get them to understand that one).

Sometimes it goes back into childhood but in some situations I've observed, The drop dead gorgeous girl was at somepoint abused by some guy in his early twenties who was still going out and having fun with the ladies. When your younger and in love your too trusting and guys can take advantage because usually you stay
