so i think i made the mistake...
of buying "what to expect when you're expecting"
it's somewhat informative, although maybe too much so...
but i flipped ahead to the labor and delivery part and there are actually directions on HOW TO DELIVER YOUR OWN BABY!!!
i think i am returning this book to the store.

I also made that mistake, and it jsut scared the hell out of me since I didnt have half of the pregnancy symptoms they go on and on and on and on about. I havent gotten to the L&D section yet, now Im super scared!

I haven't read that book since I was about 6 weeks preggo. I read one chapter and it gave me nightmares.

I read some of this book the other day and i thought it was cr*p!  There is just WAY too much information, 3/4 of the stuff didn't apply to me and it was quite boring. That was the end of that book.
I did however read Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy. Loved that book!

I did however read Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy. Loved that book!
i bought the girlfriend's guide to pregnancy which was also great, but too short!  i have heard good things about belly laughs, i think i'm going to go pick it up!

Belly Laughs and Girlfriends Guide are both great!
I use the What to Expect book here and there. They have it grouped by month (ie. weeks 14 - 17). So I read that chapter when starting that month, then don't look at it again for another month. It gives some good general info, I don't read too much into it or let myself diagnose myself by it.
For fun, I also liked "Notes From the Underbelly" which is now also a show. And I LOVE by week by week emails from the American Pregnancy Assoication and Baby Center.

Better yet I watched a very detailed birth video pn the internet this weekend and I did not need to see that. When I had my others I just did what the doc or midwife told me and did not watch.

I read about 2 chapters in the book when I first found out I was pg and it's been sitting on my coffee table since. It didn't scare me, I just got bored of it and stopped reading.

That book flipped me out! I read a little of if then flug it across the room and I swear i will never pick it up again it just makes me way to nervous!!

It also freaked me out when i first got pregnant.
I don't like that most of the book is set up as question and answers.

I am dying to read that! My sister gave me Baby Laughs for x-mas because she assumed I already had Belly Laughs, which I do not. I read Baby laughs though, and it was hilarious!!
I have what to expect and never cracked it because I keep hearing about how it freaked people out. I read the Everything Pregnancy Book, and I find it informative. I also always read my weekly updates from babycenter.com.

oy, dont' read it cover to cover. you will make yourself nuts.
i did that when i got it too and i was terrifiedt o do anything.
its best to read at the start of each month. or if you have a specific question.
