My voice is so horse
and I feel like I need to clear my throat constantly. Do you think this could be from heartburn/acid reflux? It has been HORRIBLE for me lately. Tums and Mylanta do nothing for me, Pepcid works good for a while, but I'm so miserable.

I have GIRD, so unless you feel sick, that does sound like a symptom of reflux.
Try to watch what you are eatting and how often.
Maybe try some milk or ice cream
to help coat your throat.

Also try to prop yourself up with a pillow at night. THat is when Gerd can really get to your vocal cords. Keep hydrated. This time of year with the heat your vocal cords can take some real abuse. Rest your voice, no yelling, and whispering makes it worse. OH yeah and DON'T clear your throat it can cause real damage and irrate the cords. Try a hard swallow instead. I know it doesn't give the same relief but if your cords are inflamed from GERD clearing your throat is really bad. Feel Better. Is there a perscription that is safe to take?
Umm can you tell I am speech pathologist????

I was going to guess that or that you suffer from it. That is how I was DX. I was losing my voice and learned that clearing your voice is like taking sand paper to your chords.

Re: My voice is so horse
Now that I am PG I have to prop myself up with pillows at night and drink a huge glass of milk before bed to not get acid reflux. I really helps a lot and TUMS smooth disolve.
