Charlie's toenail fell out...question
Over the summer, Charlie hurt his toe in IL's backyard running around and jammed one of his toenails really badly. Long story short, we got it taken care of, and eventually he had to have a minor surgery to get it completely removed. It grew back and all was fine.
Yesterday, Charlie jumped off the couch and must have jammed the same toenail in the carpet somehow and it almost came completely off. We took him to the vet immediately, he took it off, and now Charlie is all bandaged up. He's ok, he's with us at work today just sleeping and taking it easy.
The vet tells us that since it happend twice in the same toenail that there could be a tumor in the toe and that's whats causing the nail to keep coming out. We are going to do xrays after he is healed from this but I was wondering if anyone has experience with this at all? We will probably be able to do the xray next week but DH and I get nauseous everytime we think about it.
Thanks!

OMG!! I'm so sorry...I remember when his toenail came out the first time. I don't really know anything about the tumor idea. Misty ripped hers out while running. I certainly hope it's okay, maybe it just didn't grow in right.

Re: Charlie's toenail fell out...question
Thanks guys! We have an appointment today to get the bandage changed and we will get a better look at it. I think we are both nervous because we just moved here and our first time to this vet was in such a state of emergency. We had actually interviewed 2 in town that we didn't feel comfortable with and then we just had to rush to anyone so we picked this one, although we did toy for a second with the idea of going back out to LI to our regular vet.
Either way I am going to get a second opinion from our LI vet. We've had so many issues with Charlie's health, whether it's his eyes, or even just hurting his toe and having it turn into something major, that when something like a tumor is brought up we both panic.
Charlie himself seems fine though. He even tries to run around and play like nothing happened.
