Benizer Bhutto was assisnated today in Pakistan...
Such sad news out of Pakistan today. I was really hoping she would be elected and that country would bring peace to the region.  It is so sad that she paid the ultimate price to try to bring peace to her homeland.

It is awful, but it seemed to be almost inevitable (she escaped a suicide bombing only a few weeks ago).
Very depressing news.

it truly is a sad day for democracy over there....she was a great leader.
i just hope that there isn't more rioting and chaos. they are thinking of cancelling the elections in january--they should move forward with them.
and i'm sure the president out there had somethign to do with this!!!

I know. I was hoping that she would bring democracy to Pakistan and that there would be some shred of hope for peace in the region.

wow, I am pretty shocked...but not surprised. Such blatant disregard for life really gets me, especially when she really had the makings of a phenomenal leader. This world is getting worse and worse.

I know. I mean she was not a saint, she did leave in 1999 b/c of alleged corruption. However, I feel that she was the best hope that country had for peace.

Absolutely, there might have been a few bumps in the road for her but overall, she was an amazing, courageous woman who refused to back down from what she believed. I fully believed that came the elections, she would once again be the Prime Minister. It's a very sad and frightening day for the people of Pakistan.

I sure hope not but it's not looking good right now. I just can't believe this. Her entire family has been wiped out, her father, brothers and now her. Terrible.
