Not feelin' right...

I feel like such a whiner but I really feel lousy... I haven't felt the baby move alot today (just a bit this morning) which worries me a tad. I know it's very early to be freaked about that but when you CAN feel it, you want to. I keep getting little period-like cramps. They're quick and there is no real 'pattern' to them but they keep coming. I'm trying to stay hydrated but I'm sooo nauseated by water. Anyone else feel just not 'right' around 18 weeks?

I just hate calling my doctor. It seems like a silly thing to be calling about when you just "don't feel well".. The answer 99% of the time is "It's normal"..

Re: Not feelin' right...

The cramps could be contraction like cramps caused by dehydration--or you may have a UTI. When this happened to me, they monitored me, saw I was having small contractions, and sent me to the hospital to get IV fluids. Stay on top of it, and never worry about calling the doc. That's what they are there for. My saying was, I never want to regret anything. Feel better!

I just wanted to tell you not to worry about calling them...that is their job. I called a lot during pregnancy. I always had questions and anytime I thought something was "off" I called or went in. Better safe than sorry when it comes to your baby.Chat Icon

ETA: I was in Labor and Delivery at 18 weeks, 23 weeks and 31 weeks. I was contracting early all 3 times and needed fluids and monitoring, so it was always good to call.

Re: Not feelin' right...

Laura, it's SO important that you hydrate - when you're pregnant you need MUCH more water than you usually take and can get dehydrated very easily. I ended up in the ER TWICE during my pregnancy because I felt off, was cramping and started getting blurry vision, and it turned out that both times I was dehydrated, even though I felt like I was drinking enough.

Go get yourself a bottle of water with some lemon - whenever I had an aversion to water, I'd try lemon or orange seltzer water.

I totally agree! Call your doctor. No question is silly when it involves you and the well being of your baby. Trust your gut and call.

I would call the dr if you have any concerns!!

Do they feel like Round Ligament pains? Those are stretching, period like cramps that occur at 4/5 months pregnant.

I would try to drink more water. Put lemon in it, that should ease your nausea.

And don't worry about not feeling the baby all of the time. I am due 5/26 and don't feel the baby everyday. I've read that you can go a whole week with no feeling because the baby is still so small.

Feel Better!!
