Re: Remote start

Don't go thru your dealer. I had one put on my Acura and it was like $400... My mom had one installed for like $150Chat Icon

Did it void your warranty w/the dealer though? That's what I'm terrified on, especially since it's a new car.

Re: Remote start

i'm under the impression that it would void my warranty that's why I want to go through the dealer.

Re: Remote start

Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)) .Service advisors that tell customers their warranty is automatically Voided if they add wheels, remote starts, fog lights, etc are IN VIOLATION of Federal LAW.

Re: Remote start

We just got a new car in April, and we had it installed by the dealer. This was after having one installed in our old car by Audio Planet or something, and they completelyy screwed up AND screwed up the car ... but when I brought it back to them, they said that there was nothing wrong with the battery light going on every morning and just to ignore it. I don't remember how much it cost to go through the dealer, but at least I felt like they knew the car and how to install it. For me, it was worth the peace of mind.

Re: Remote start

the dealers usually sub out the install anyway. As long as you go to a reputible installation place you shouldnt have any problems

Re: Remote start

It does not void the warranty...I don't know where this comes from.
Go to a reputable car stereo place, I like Parkway, and have them install it.
It will run you about $100 as opposed to $400.

If you really have concerns, call the warranty dept. of your car manufacturer. I can guarantee that it does not void the warrany, though. I've called four different manufacturers about this and all have said it doesn't void the warranty. The only thing that voids the warranty is mechanical or exhaust changes.

I am pretty sure that as long as it is intalled by a licensed installer it will not matter. I'd look over your paperwork to be sure.

FYI: Most dealerships send them out to be installed anyway.Chat Icon
