LIRR story fer ya
Last night I was on the 6:21 to Ronkonkoma. I was in a two seater. Across the aisle from me is someone sitting on the end seat of a three seater listening to his MP3 player..I hear it, it's annoying, but ok, I'll deal. (see, I'm better)...
Then all of a sudden..
guitar riff.."today's your birthday"...
loud as if I was wearing the ear buds myself.
I look over and decide it's time to say something. Hey, if I can hear what you're listening to loud and clear, obviously, it's too loud.
I tap him..he looks at me. I motion for him to lower his music..he continues to look at me. He has not taken his ear buds out yet. I say, loudly, "please lower your music." He takes the ear buds out and says, "you can hear this?" I say yes, please lower it. He says, but when I have them out of my ears I can't hear it. True, it was lower outside of his ears. I don't know why but it was. He shakes his head, looks annoyed and lowers it.
I can still hear it..ok, at least he lowered it.
Crappy ear buds? Deaf passenger? Don't know, you decide.

Re: LIRR story fer ya
Last week I was on the train home and two people together wanted to inside seats in the three-seater behind me. They did say "excuse me" and the gentleman sitting there said nicely, "Do you want the window seats, or would you just like me to slide over?"
The guy of the couple says nastily, "I don't care where you sit just hurry up so we can sit down."
Commuters can be such a$$holes. Even when people are nice they find new ways to suck.

Re: LIRR story fer ya
People are craaazy. Last week I was on the train home with DH and there was a guy talking loudly on his cell phone behind us LOUDLY. He was also kicking my seat. I put my ipod on, could still hear him. practically the whole ride home. By the time we reached the bethpage/farmingdale area I couldn't take it anymore. It had been going on since we left Penn. So I say loudly "are you going to be on the phone the ENTIRE ride?" and he just ignores me and keeps blabbering away. DH tells me to shut up I don't know why he has a problem saying stuff to people. So I keep talking loudly, "I am sure everyone here appreciates me saying something, no one wants to hear this guy talking the whole time." Still NOTHING. THE AZZHOLE NEVER GOT OFF THE PHONE and NEVER stopped kicking my seat, even though I said something about both things. What a jerk. And he kept talking as we got off the train in Ronkonkoma. I pretended to trip and "accidentaly" knocked into him.

Nice..
there was also this young couple who were obviously tourists who were standing the whole time flitting back and forth down the aisle surveying where they want to sit. They went back and forth at least 20 times everytime someone got up to get off the train. They sat apart for a minute and then switched, made people get up and then decided they wanted to sit somewhere else. This happened for about 40 minutes.

You were too nice. But I agree, my DH wouldn't want a confrontation either. I would have repeated some of his conversation right back to him after he said it. The whole ride? Unacceptable unless it was an emergency. Kicking your seat? I would tolerate that for about 10 seconds.
