What do you think?
My Mom;s family is basically a bunch of azzholes(I like my uncle but he is not very good to my Mom so he's kind of an azz too)
Anywy, My cousin sent a group e-mail to a bunch of people saying I need your address for Christmas cards. I NEVER talk to my cousin-she has lived in Atlanta for like the last 15 yrs-I have seen her maybe 2X and we are NOT close
So I sent back
Hiya,
Don't feel the need to send me one since I never send them anyway! Have a Great Christmas.
Address
I was saying something about myself! My Mom said her and my Aunt took it as rude towards her. What do you think?
ETA: I know this sounds super petty but this is the sh!t I have to deal with all the time. Whose got their panties in a bunch about some inconsequential BS!

Re: What do you think?
I understand what you meant but I also understand how it could have been misinterpreted on e-mail...

Re: What do you think?
I think that some people need to take life much less seriously. I would never take offense to an email like that!

I was thinking the same thing.
Maybe this was your cousin's way of starting to be in touch more??
I don't think there was any need to carry it back to you though.

Re: What do you think?
i can see how she would take offense - i picture it like a "back handed" comment. she wants to do something nice (send you a card) and you stopped her dead in her tracks before she could even sign one. especially with the family history - im sure even the slightest thing would set off alarmswith her - hence this post. this also maybe have been her way of giving an olive branch???????( im guessing on that one)
i wouldnt look to much into it - just say you didnt want something to happen when you didnt send her a card back. some people are obviously super sensitive about this stuff.

Re: What do you think?
I understand what you meant to say, but honestly, if I were your cousin, I would be offended. She reached out to you, and you rejected her in what could be interpreted as a snide way. You didn't inquire anything as to her life or how she was doing. And the have a happy christmas could be interpreted as sarcastic.
And with any family, you are an extension of your mother, so your behavior would come back to her.

Re: What do you think?
I think it's fine what you said. But maybe because you are not that close to them, they don't know your sense of humor or candidness so they took it the wrong way.

Re: What do you think?
Thanks. She always sends cards and i don't. Not because there is any bad blood just because we are not close. I don't send cards to anyone really except my Mom and my sister
