Is it crazy to own a house when DH nor myself know NOTHING about houses?
I am a city chick born and raised...now with the twins, DH wants a house! I think he is nuts since he is the most unhandy person I know!
Is it insane?

depends..... do you have a handy relative who could teach you the ropes?
if not, you may want to ease into home ownership and get a condo.....

Nah, having one is how you learn! DH and I have surprised ourselves. You figure out how to fix things yourself or who to call for help pretty quickly once the house is yours and there's no landlord to rely on.

you may (or may not) of been worried about parenting but i'm sure you are a great mom...
it comes natural....

I think that it wold be fine to own a home knowing nothing about one, you gotta learn sometime (if you want to)
And I don't think owning a condo would help, I mean, why? Smaller? Because there is matience? I don't think someone should necessarliy buy something that they are going to have to turn around and sell soon after, especially in this market.

It's not crazy.
My DH is the worst kind of handy - he thinks he is & he isn't. He rarely asks for help or advise - when he absolutely should.
One step at a time & always ask for advice. Those Home Depot guys can help with almost everything!

We will more than likely be condo owners before house owners. We are not the handy dandy fix-it people we should be. We know our limitations.

My DH has never been handy (as I learned when I asked him to hang a set of blinds when we were first married  ) and yet this past summer, he redid our bedrooms (down to the studs) and installed all new windows. Granted he received help but he learned and now knows how to do it. So I agree with everyone who said you learn as you go. We live in our house for 4 1/2 years and I have learned so much as well. Condo living sounds nice to me on one hand but on the other hand,the cost of the condos and then they monthly fees doesn't sound very appealing.
