Can I make cookies for Friday now?
So here is my dilema. I need to make my class cookies for a party on Friday. The thing is...today would be the perfect day to make them. Can I bake them and putthem into containers or will they go bad and make them sick???
HELP!

Re: Can I make cookies for Friday now?
depends upon the type of cookie
sugar cookies / butter cookies / spice cookies (any crisp cookie) will be totally fine as long as they're in airtight containers
moist cookies (chcolate chip / chewy stuff) may begin to taste stale by friday
no cookie would make a person sick.... it would only taste a little stale. Cookies are not like cake containing highly perishible dairy / cheese / pudding fillings. Butter in dough lasts a long time before going rancid in baked goods

Re: Can I make cookies for Friday now?
I'm making rainbow cookies, chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, and chocolate covered pretzels.
Can I do any of those now??
Maybe the chocolate covered pretzels? The chocolate chip cookies are easy so I can do those the night before..

sugar, peanut butter... anything crispy will be totally fine. just shove them in ziplock bags (seperate bags for each kind)
Rainbow I don't know, becuase I've never made them before.

Re: Can I make cookies for Friday now?
Also if you put a piece of bread in the container/s it helps keep the cookies fresh for longer!

Re: Can I make cookies for Friday now?
You can make the sugar cookie dough and refrigerate for a couple of hours. after you refrigerate them, roll the dough between two pieces of parchment and freeze them until you are ready to use them. They cut much better and faster. You can freeze dough for up to three months.

Re: Can I make cookies for Friday now?
I made today - but I am giving them out on Wednesday. I figure everyone gets bombarded on Friday and this way i don't have to wait so long.

Re: Can I make cookies for Friday now?
I made my sugar cookies. I hope they last. I doubt my students will tell me if they are bad..ok they will. Who am I kidding? I will just make them eat them in school!
