Am I crazy?
I have to stop googling, I really do.
So, the RE thinks our primary issue is that DH's sperm aren't moving in my CM. We don't know yet if it's me, but the RE noted that my CM looks very good, so Dh has to do an SA this week.
I was just snooping around on the internet, looking at causes of low sperm motility, and it looks like a carnitine deficiency is one of the primary offenders. Apparently, carnitine deficiencies are frequent amongst strict vegans, which my husband is - he does eat fish, but no meat and no dairy.
The highest concentrations of carnitine are found in red meat and dairy products.
I wonder if my husband's insane diet is causing some of our problems??
I'm crazy for playing doctor here, aren't I?

Re: Am I crazy?
You arent crazy but the internet can be an informative as well as dangerous tool. I have researched the same topics over and over again and got conflicting opinions from different websites leaving me not knowing what to believe about anything.
I have found: 1) that people believe the information they want to believe OR 2) they self diagnose and get themselves all stressed out. I have to pull myself away from this habit and even from things I see on this website - they were more destructive than helpful to my psyche.
I would take your concerns to your doctor and perhaps in your DH's case a nutirtionist and allow them to help you. Good luck.

Thank you - this is exactly what I needed to hear. I think I'm totally overanalyzing, though, for other medical reasons, I am concerned about DH's nutrition considering he has cut out half of all the nutritional resources out there, and if his SA comes back abnormal at all, I'm going to ask him to discuss it with the RE or whomever they refer him to.

Re: Am I crazy?
If this is the case, maybe he could try taking a supplement such as L Carnitine?
It's sooo human to overanalyze ....

Re: Am I crazy?
Well we have severe MFI with low motility, low counts, and low morph. My husband eats TONS of red meat and drinks about a gallon of milk a week so it certainly isn't a deficiency problem for us!! Don't go crazy until after you get the s/a back. And I think if the sperm arent swimming in your CM it's not necessarily an issue with the sperm, but the quality of the CM
ETA- A friend I work with had hostile CM (no sperm in her post-coital) and had one IUI and now had 2 year old twin boys so it's definately something that can be overcome
