Yogi is out of control!
Well, he is just driving DH and I crazy! He has been jumping, constantly wanting to be played with and barking when we don't play with him. This seems to have gotten worse over the last few weeks. DH and I want to enroll in dog training, but we don't want to pay the crazy amounts we have found ($500-$600). Can anyone recommend trainers or classes?
I took Yogi to Puppy Works in Holbrook when he was about 4 months old, but we only went to one class. Does anyone have experience with Puppy Works?

Re: Yogi is out of control!
Hmmm...what breed pup is Yogi? It sounds as if he could use a good long run at a dog park to get rid of some energy- if a dog is exhausted and tired from some exercise, he won't be bothering you and definitely less apt to get in trouble! As far as Canine Form and Function, (Dog Works) the trainer Debi is a lovely person and her methods work well for many dogs. However, my pup, a Jack Russell isn't food responsive, (she trains with positive reinforcement, ie. food) and it didn't work for him. It may work for your pup- 1 class isn't going to assure you of results. Give it another go at Dog Works and if you feel food rewards don't work for your pup, there is always Jeff Kolbjornsen, the "NY Dog Whisperer-" I have heard very good things about him! But I would definitely get your pup into a heavy exercise regimen!

Thanks!! Yogi is a German Shorthaired Pointer. He is VERY energetic and needs to be played with a lot. We have a large yard so we throw the ball with him everyday, and usually kick a soccer ball around with him as well. Its hard to walk him because he is horrible on the leash. He is a bird hunting dog, so he always tries to catch birds in the neighborhood. He was doing well on walks between the months of 6-12, but now that he has turned a year old he is uncontrollable on the leash. I wanted bring him to a trainer so I could learn some skills to walk with him everyday.
As far as the class I took him to, I only went once because I had the afternoon off. I thought it would be fun and I learned some puppy training skills that we still use today.
