Re: Sort of a depressing topic but
for everyone!
Ugh, I guess I am relieved that you all understand what I am saying. When I am with my mom I don't think about it, it's more like when I am laying in bed at night. My DH and I chose to buy a house with her when we got married because she is all alone and it was the best choice I ever made and I love my Dh for it.
I am so sorry for all of your losses and tribulations.
And you are all right, we need to cherish our time with them and that's all we can do.

Re: Sort of a depressing topic but
My Uncle died about 8 years ago and I guess it was on my parent's mind because they had "the talk" with me about being the Executrix of their will.
Until then, I never thought about their mortality. My parents are going to live forever, aren't they? Because I can't imagine life without them.
Their will is long outdated and the subject came up last summer again. It was on my mind for weeks and even now, I'm tearing up just thinking about it.
They're at the age where the health issues they have will probably plague them for the rest of their days. I fully expect to be the one responsible for their care since I am the only non-parent of my siblings.
My husband is an only child. So it's a scary thought to know that one day we may be responsible for all four.
I hate thinking about this. It does make me appreciate them more, but at the same time I don't want to dwell on it and lose any happiness I may have with them because of it.
