When did you start to tell people?

I am about 7 weeks and we just had our first sono. So far we told his immediate family and one friend each, but that is it. I have a large family- i want to tell them, but I am still so nervous- plus i am a teacher an I want to tell some of my students and some of the people that i work with SO badly- but again, im really nervous to do that-

When did you guys start telling everyone?

Re: When did you start to tell people?

I told my family right away. I am a teacher also so I told some close friends and my AP around 10 weeks. Since I found out I was pg at almost the end of the school year (may) I decided to wait until sept to let the students know. (I teach high school)

Re: When did you start to tell people?

i told my family the first week (would have done it sooner but DH was out of town)

very close friends i told over the first 2 weeks when i could get ahold of them. and i told you right away Chat Icon

a few friends at work and my boss know. i'm "coming out" on the 19th because my 12 week appt is the 18th, so i figure if all looks good, then i can tell.

personally i wouldn't say anything to students or non-close friends until later on. you'll know when it's the right time. once the 13th week hits is when i would come clean--but with coworkers not students or parents. Chat Icon

Re: When did you start to tell people?

I think you go with your owne discretion.. I know its a happy moment and you want to share it with the world.. So if it makes you happy to tell a few people then do it.. I know they say wait untill 12 weeks ,but me and DH were trying for such long time and alot of people were expecting for the news... Go with your gutt feeling.. Congrats Chat Icon I told my most dear friends and familu at 6 weeks...

Re: When did you start to tell people?

My DH and I are both teachers in the same building and are dying to tell our co-workers. But, we both agreed to wait until 12 weeks, I'm also 7 weeks now. It's so hard because 2 other women in the building are also PG and it's all everyone talks about. You should tell your school nurse though, if you haven't already, in case she needs to notify you of any airborne illnesses circulating that are harmful to PG women.

Re: When did you start to tell people?

Dh's friend's wife just got a BFP last Friday or Saturday and told a whole bunch of people and even announced it in church before even going for her 1st pre natal visit.

Re: When did you start to tell people?

We had a MC earlier in the year so we were more hesitant. We live OOS and wanted to tell my family in person and the opportunity only came up at 11 weeks. My Best Friend knew at 7 weeks. I'll be 16 weeks on Monday and just told most people this week.

The 14th week starts your 2nd trimester so that is the safest time. But many people tell earlier. Do what you are comfortable with!

I told my Aunt and a friend right away! But that was it for a long while! i am 9 weeks now and we've told only a handful of people. Not even our families know. They'll find out at christmas when i'll be 11 1/2 weeks pregnant. Chat Icon

Re: When did you start to tell people?

Work I told 4 days after my BFP....I HAD to because of the work I do. Not how I envisioned it ever, but what is safest for my baby!

My parents and grandma I told at 9 1/2 weeks. My siblings and aunts and uncles at Thanksgiving when I was 10 weeks.

I have asked them to refrain from telling other family members until next week when I am 13 weeks and or after my ultrascreen results.

Re: When did you start to tell people?

I told my mom the next day after I found out.
I told my boss the next week because I work with chemicals, but I also consider her a good friend. I told my sister-in-law immediately also, because she was pregnant too (3 weeks ahead of me).
I told my MIL & FIL, siblings, & grandparents after my 9 week sono.
I told everyone else after my 12 week sono. Even though the 14 week is the 2nd trimester, since our 12 week sono looked great I felt comfy telling everybody then.
