Re: Bully alarm!!!
Think it's great, but 1) do they really think that a bully won't torment another child in an area where there isn't an alarm, 2) who's to say that there won't be false alarms? 3) some kids are just so brutally bullied that they will probably be too petrified to use the alarm unfortunately. 4) wouldn't this bully alarm bring more attention onto the one being bullied?

Excellent points! Who is going to want to be the rat after they are already being targeted?

Re: Bully alarm!!!
i don't like the idea of it. it puts the focus on the kid who pushes the button and i think that will only make things worse..kids are so mean nowadays..to think schools even need to implement something like this

Well, a lot of schools do implement a zero tolerance for bullying, and do want to stop it, I think its that there is no eaay way to address it, and they are hoping this will be a start....

Re: Bully alarm!!!
I should also add, that maybe they are hoping that kids observing the bullying will push the button - I once went to a workshop on bullying, and the biggest part of bullying that makes it a problem is that there are always a lot of witnesses, but nobody does anything...

Re: Bully alarm!!!
ok, I'll preface my opinion by saying I'm not a parent....
but.... I was bullied mercilessly, and this was back in the day where bullying was more tolerated in schools. I know I wouldn't pull an alarm. If things got bad, that's when a teacher or cafeteria aide would see things and step in on their own.
Bullying is a fact of life. It makes kids stronger to have to adjust and stand up for themselves. While I was tortured by the experience, I think I'm stronger person after it.... I'm concerned that we're insulating kids so much from the hash parts of life (to the point we're protecting them from eachother) that we may one day reach the point that our kids grow up to be weak adults who get the shocks of their lives in their early 20's.......
