My DH used to install kitchens/baths and would come home filthy! It was such a physical job that it really took a toll on his body. He was always exhausted.

Totally agree with the poster that said the thing about carharts & timberlands. Um helloooooooooooooooo..
My DH is a Teamster , Local 282.
Sometimes I swing by the jobs he works @ , just to see him in action .. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

& yea, every other word out of his mouth is the f bomb too,, I grew up with a dad & brother who are cops & considering the things they saw ( my dad was shot as a cop) you;d think their languange would be bad, DH is by far forse. But Im fine with it. If thats the worst thing he does is curse & look hot doing it , so be it,, Chat Icon

Chat Icon Wives of FDNY Lt.'s Unite!!!

He doesn't call everyone Bro...although he has a friend who is FDNY too and his kids call my DH Bro Chat Icon I think they honestly think it's his name Chat Icon Chat Icon

DH is the first blue collar worker I ever dated. I guess that's why I never found the right guy before him, I was looking in the wrong place.

I love how my DH is very loyal to the guys he works with. He would do anything for any one of them, no questions asked at the drop of a hat. Maybe it comes from having to work as a team on a daily basis. I find they are reciprocal relationships bc it seems that most of the guys are the same as him in that respect. He is actually a very loyal and giving person, not one bit self-centered in general so I consider myself a very lucky person. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Always dated Blue Collar but married management instead...I always laugh at how soft my DH's hands are. I tell him, "What would you do if you had to do physical labor for a living?" His response "Most likely die!"

He is so not blue collar material!

Re: Spinoff to Blue Collar Jobs that our Men hold

My DH is a Teamster, Local 707, & proud of it. He was management & hated the hours & BS & decided to go back & do what he loves....drive....and also work on the dock & cause havoc w/ the rest of his "brothers".

The OT checks are nice and the benefits can't be beat.

I always went for the blue collar, get your hands dirty type of guy....just something about them....

hmm....does being a police officer count as blue collar? my DH works pretty hard out there fighting crime and not sitting at a desk!

i was going to ask the same thing!! DH is in law enforcement- i tend to think that those jobs are more blue collar than white.

My DH is a police officer as well. Love to see him in uniform Chat Icon and also the pay is FANTASTIC compared. I'm so glad he's White Plains and not NYPD. I really feel NYPD doesnt' get enough for what they do.

My husband is an electrician. I love the way he looks in his jeans and workboots. Chat Icon

The other day he was putting his hardhat in the car and I said "You know... I do love a man in a hardhat.."

Let's see if he takes that hint!Chat Icon

Unfortunately... he is working for a union (Local 25) where there are about 400 guys currently unemployed so we don't see too much overtime - we are just glad that he gets to work!

Although my hubby is now "white collar", he wears his share of Carhartts and Redwing steel-tips. Chat Icon (probably explains my natural attraction to Mike Holmes. Chat Icon )

DD has a couple pairs of Carhartts too. Chat Icon
