Help and Advice on Metformin
RE prescribed today. From what I read it can have some "undesireable" side effects. DH and I plan on going out east tomorrow to do some outlet shopping and to cut down our christmas tree. Is it better if I start the Metformin on Sunday instead of tomorrow? It sounds like I should be near a bathroom and not in the middle of a farm cutting down a tree. What do you suggest?

I've been on 1500 mg of Metformin since August. I have been lucky and not had any bad side effects, maybe you will too!
I was given the advice to take it right before bed because of all the side effects that it can have. I'd either take it at night after you come home or Sunday. With something like this I dont think one day will hurt you. Best of luck and have fun cutting down a tree, I think you've inspired me to do something fun like that this weekend and get the heck out of the house!

I just called the RE...they told me that I should take it all spread out....I think better safe than sorry and skip it today. I dont wanna throw up and poop on a christmas tree

I didn't have any side effects.
Took one at breakfast, lunch, and dinner with food.

I take mine spread out. In the beginning it was not great. I never had to run to a bathroom though, and I never threw up.

On 1500mg.........no probs. The key is to change your diet and eat better. I cut out all refined carbs and I eat whole grains and more fibrous food. Its really helped. I notice an instant change if I have a day where I eat crap food. When I eat well I don't have a single side effect. TMI but I have much healthier poop on Metformin then before. As a bonus, I've lost weight too! Good luck, you will be fine.
