Just so you all know
Target's return policy STINKS!!
I have a gift that was on my registry, someone purchased it online and had it shipped to me.
They flat out said that I just CAN NOT return it becuase it was purchased online. (even though I registered for it in the store)
Now I'm stuck with this item and have no use for it!

What was the item? BBB is really good about returns--maybe you can bring it back there without a receipt! Probably just get a credit, but better than nothing!

Double check the online return policy on Target.com. Maybe you just talked to the wrong person. It could be that you have to mail the item back instead of returning it in store.

yeah.. i've had problems with them before, too.... i returned something without a receipt and instead of getting an all over store credit, i HAD to buy something from the same department as the item i was returning. you would think to compete with stores like BBB, they would change their policy a little bit....

I can't return it to BB&B, they don't sell it there and I work there!
I talked to two different people, then was told to call the 800 number, so I did and got disconnected.
It's a tablecloth that is way too big, I got the wrong size and can't even exchange it. They said I can return in online only for an "E-store credit" (can only use it online) but I need the order number - I don't have that b/c it was a gift!
So basically I'm SOL at this point!
ETA - they don't even have my registry on file anymore and my wedding was only 7 months ago.
BBB keeps your registry on file until 2 years after your wedding date!

Same thing happened to me right after my shower when I had a return. That was SO annoying!

I would just ask the person for the slips and tell them it's too big so you need to exchange it. Or give it away as a gift.

that's interesting -
last year, i received a DVD set as a gift (ordered through target online and shipped directly to me) - but i already had it.
i went to the target return counter. they directed me to the online kiosks (since it was ordered online) and i processed my return there. they then issued a store credit and took the DVD set to ship it back themselves.
maybe try another store?

That happened to me as well, I thought it was kind of odd that it had to be in the same department.

I registered there too. And they are AWFUL!!! The changed their policy a few months ago and it is just impossible to return anything. They also are not so good at remviing items from the registry once they are purchased.
Signed, Me my three coffe machines, 2 microwaves and 60 can openers.
I'll trade you 5 can openers for a table cloth?

I've had trouble returning things there as well without receipts. Not sure how they are if you have the receipts.
