Yorkie - UPDATE
My kids and I fell in love with my brother's dog and we're looking to rescue or adopt a yorkie. We don't want to buy one, we can't afford one........this seems to be impossible....
this is the face we're in love with........
UPDATE!!!!!!
As you know we want to rescue a dog. On saturday we went to our local animal shelter and this is what we found...(this is what he looks like)...he came in an hour before we got there...........WE ARE IN LOVE!!!!!!!!! But we have to wait until Friday, if no one claims him, he's ours. The kids are counting the days! Image Attachment(s):

Yorkies are great dogs.
I'd call the local shelters and Bide-a-wee, NSAL and Little Shelter (Kudos for adopting, BTW!)

yes, the kids and I agree that rescuing and/or adopting one is the best way to go. i'd rather save a life!!!!!!!

Check out the Town of Babylon shelter off of Edison avenue. A friend of mine volunteers there every once and a while & thinks there is a Yorkie mix there.

That is fantastic! I hope he is part of your family very soon. I just want to remind everyone again that Animal Care and Control of NYC at 2336 Linden Blvd. in Brooklyn, just minutes from Howard Beach and their shelter on 110th Street in Manhattan between 1st and 2nd Avenues has hundreds of dogs for adoption every day. Purebreds in all sizes as well as large purebreds and mixed breeds. So many kittens and cats as well.
