I don't know what happened today, but I do know that this time of year, a lot of people commit suicide by walking in front of a train. I used to notice it as a commuter, and now DH works for LIRR and he sees it a lot more often around the holidays. So sad.

My DH drives trains.
You're going to see a LOT more of these reports now that it's the holiday season.
 for the person who gave up on life.
for their family
and for the engineers driving the trains.

I am terrified for the day this happens to my DH.

It is amazing the training and classes that engineers-to-be have to go through when training for this position.
They need to make sure that they can handle it mentally

I don't think anyone can. I believe the LIRR requires they see a counsulor after an incident- I'm not 100% sure. But i have told DH that I will insist on it if God forbid that day ever comes for him.
