What's next?

I started with the RE last month, had a slew of bloodwork done mid-cycle, had my CD7 progesterone test, two ultrasounds and I'm scheduled for an MRi on Wednesday.

The RE said to come in this Wed. for a pregnancy test, or to call if AF arrived earlier than that. AF arrived last night, so I called this morning and the receptionist said she'd get back to me with what my next steps are.

Because my last bloodwork showed elevated TSH levels (5.95), they scheduled me for a thyroid work-up on my blood for December 18th (any idea why they're waiting so long to re-test?), but other than that, what's next? The RE mentioned she wanted me to do an HSG this month - when would that take place normally, and is there anything else she'll likely recommend for this month?

No, not yet. I think she wants to do more thorough testing, and that's why they sent me a script to go to a lab to get bloodwork done on 12/18. The nurse said that they would call me the next day to discuss the results and go from there.

Re: What's next?

Hmmm that seems like a long time to wait because TTC is going to be on hold right? I think for TTC/pregnancy the levels should be below 2...I would get in there more quickly if possible

I was wondering the same thing, but just assumed that they had to test me at a certain point in my cycle, and that's why Chat Icon

They are supposed to call me today, so I'm going to ask specifically why I have to wait until 12/18 to have my thyroid retested.

Re: What's next?

HSG is done between day 5-12 depending on where you go. It has to be done before you ovulate.

No reason that I know of. I had my hsg done on cd10. I would take something stronger than an advil if you've got it. I scoff at AdvilChat Icon

Oh god, does it really hurt THAT much?

Can I go by myself or should I bring someone with me? Can I drive home afterwards? I'm assuming it's best to take the day off for when it's scheduled?

Re: What's next?

There is no pain at all after(at least for me) I found it somewhat painful. I am just saying I wish someone had told me to take something other than Advil

Re: What's next?

I went by myself, and went back to work afterwards. I had pain for about a minute during the procedure, then it was over. I had very mild AF cramping for a few hours afterwards. People experience varying degrees of pain - some have no pain at all and for some its very painful. I don't think there's any way to predict it. For me, that one minute of pain was pretty intense but it was really quick. I'm sure after giving birth it will be nothing for you LOL.

You'll need to bring a pad because the liquid leaks out afterwards.

Re: What's next?

Not sure about the thyroid issue. After my hsg, my doctor wanted me to wait 3 cycles and then go for laproscopic surgery.

Any reason why? My doc hasn't mentioned the laproscopic, and I'm hoping if we can narrow this down to the thyroid issue, I won't have to Chat Icon
