paying for file?????
I wanted to go for a consult with another RE for a second opinion. I requested my file and they said it was 75 cents a page. Did anyone else have to pay for their file?

After I had my m/c, I asked for a copy of my D&C records from my ob/gyn....only because I was going to acupuncture and she wanted to see them (she was a dr.). Anyway, my ob had the nerve to charge me $1.50 for the two pages. Here I am, emotionally drained from a d&c, and he charges me for that??? The girl at the desk was even in shock, almost embarrassed. Anyway, sorry to go on about me.... it is not unheard of unfortunately. I even remember years ago paying my old ob/gyn to transfer records.

If your doctor requests them they should not charge. If you got to the new RE and have them request it they shouldn't charge

From working in a lawoffice, doctors have a right to charge UPTO .75 cents a page. They are NOT allowed to charge 1.50 per page unless there is some "extra" work involved in preparing the records for copying.

Have the doctor request it, they won't charge the other doctor, but unfortunately they DO have a right to charge you .75 per page.

Yeah... my dr. was going to charge me if I wanted to receive copies but if it went straight to my new dr. it was free.

DH was charged 75 cents per page for his records. My RE's office didn't want anything sent to them so we wound up paying almost $80 for his records.
