I don't wear contacts/glasses but my wife buys them from 1-800 contacts. She usually gets a years supply when they are on sale. She has been doing this for a couple of years but she does need to go to the dr ever year to make sure the script is right.

the best prices i have found are at discountcontactlenses.com - they carry EVERYTHING, even the toric lenses i need for my left eye - and they cost about 50% less than my doctor's office charges!

I found a great price on lensmart.com for the day/night lenses - a year supply for $108 after rebate.
They have other specials too.

I want to order more contacts but thought that you had to be seen by an eye doctor within the past year or else you can't order them online. Is that true?

Yes, the last time I tried to reorder and old prescription they asked for my doctor's number. When they found out my prescription was old, my order was cancelled and my doctor's office was calling me to come in for a check up.
