I want to get my husband a GPS for his car..I know he wants the one where you can program a celebrity's voice..Someone told me that is the TOMTOM..Does anyone know what model is good..I was thinking around $300 to spend..I would greatly appreciate any suggestions..

Re: GPS

I vote for the Garmin. Either the c330 or c550. They have TTS (text-to-speech), so they say the name of the road to turn on, not just "Turn right in 500 feet", but more like "Turn right in 500 feet on Main Street". Lots of POI, very good maps. The c550 has bluetooth, so you can use your cell phone through the device for hands-free use. The c550 also has real-time traffic. It color codes the map if there is traffic, tells you an estimate of the delay, allows you to route around it, and what is causing the delay (excess traffic, accident, construction, etc). They have a roughly 8 hour battery, so you can use them without being tied to a power source.

Garmin c550
c330

All Garmins

The c330s are very popular, and are usually on sale at a lot of stores.

Re: GPS

My Mom has the Garmin and I have the TomTom.

The Garmin is easier to use, IMO, and the screen is bigger.

I have seen the TomTom on sale though for $150 so if price is a concern, I would go that route! It works just as well as the Garmin and I LOVE that I can program it to pop up a little pink DD sign when I pass Dunkin Donuts!

Good luck!

Re: GPS

Garmin has better reviews. My mom has the 660 and I got DH the nuvi 200. Both are great, but the 660 has more features (double the price too)
