Just so you know, they’re RUTABAGAS!!!

I know that many of you ladies probably already know this - but for those of you that do not -

You know how, at Thanksgiving, you sit down at the table and there is a bowl of something that looks like the mashed potatoes, but they're orange? Then you ask, "Please pass the turnips." Yeah, well they're not *****' turnips!! They're rutabagas. I just spent $10 on turnips only to turn around and have the drop $5 more on rutabagas.

I'm just saying that if we, as a culture, had our sh!t together, I wouldn't have had to spend extra money on stupid turnips that I now want to throw at the woman at the grocery store that said, "Oh, no. Turnips and rutabagas are totally different things." Thanks for nothing, b!tch.

I've made rutabagas before and thought they were the same thing as turnips. So, this year I figure I'd ask someone - and I don't know why, some little masochistic voice inside my head.

It's something that I'll about later.

Re: Just so you know, they’re RUTABAGAS!!!

according to wikipedia, rutabagas are a type of turnip called a 'yellow turnip'

I don't think I've ever had any kind of turnip though, rutabaga or otherwise.

a rutabaga is a cross between the cabbage and the turnip...so they really arent that different

We just always called 'em turnips. Everyone I've know's that's ever made 'em always just refered to them as turnips. And they're more yellow than gold.

That wasn't really my point though. I was just ranting.
