Bella's limping...
My three year old Yorkie, Bella, has been limping around for the past two days. She jumps up and down off the couch onto the wood floors all day long, and I think she might have twisted her ankle.
I pressed on every part of her right front leg, and the only time she twinges is when I touch near her lower joint. I know she didn't break anything because she's in full spirits, and still tries to run around on it.
How long should I wait before bringing her over to the vet? The limping has not improved, nor has it gotten worse. I can't help but think of the vet and see dollar signs.
What would you do? TIA!

Re: Bella's limping...
Keep her from jumping around today, even if it means carrying her.
If it doesn't improve, see the vet. Just keep her off her legs as much as possible.

Re: Bella's limping...
Honestly I'd go to the vet. Even if it is not a break, a strained muscle can heal incorrectly & atrophy.
Hope Bella is OK

Re: Bella's limping...
Not trying to scare you or anything but the last time Peanut was limping around it wasn't even her foot/leg that was injured.
She actually wound up slipping a disc in her neck and needed a muscle relaxer and anti inflammatory. (all because she landed the wrong way when she jumped off of the furniture).
Plus she had to be strictly crated a few days.
You should take her to the vet.

Re: Bella's limping...
Sometimes with small dogs, especially from jumping around, they get a luxating platella. The knee cap shifts. It causes them to limp. Lucky got this and we put him on pain killers and he stopped limping after a week. But if it gets realyl bad he will have to have Srugery
