help with curtain ties

I have tassel curtain ties, the rope ones, and I have no idea how to tie them. I've searched the web and have not found instructions. anyone want to help?

I think there are 2 ways..... some rope ties I believe have a little loop that can gently hang on a discrete nail or hook in the wall... others are meant to just gather the curtains without any attachment to the wall

I think the gathering sort you just hold both sides of the loop together, put it around the curtain (slightly higher than the final position), and go under and over to make a little loop knot (very poorly described... sorry I don't know the name of that knot ) then reposition the tie exactly where you want it.
