Tremors?

Yesterday Sidney started shuddering right after I nursed her. It only lasted a few seconds....like she got really scared or something and went away. I didn't think too much about it but then today about 2 minutes after waking up from a nap her head started bobbing up and down like a bobble head doll (sp?). This lasted about 15 seconds then settled down to a slight tremor. I called the Dr. and he spoke with a pediatric neurologist and they want me to have her get an EEG.

Of course I am a total wreck. Has anyone had this happen....is it in anyway normal?Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Tremors?

No..not since yesterday morning. Although I am questioning every move she makes now. Like when I am nursing her her head twitches...I thought this was just her trying to bring on the let down but now I am looking at it differently. Waiting to hear back from the Dr. about where to go for EEG. Hopefully I can get it done today.

And she has been doing soooooo much better lately with sleeping and pooping. Now this!!!

Re: Tremors?

Re: Tremors?

I just spoke to my BIL about it. My niece was having some strange movement (she would bend in half almost like a convulsion, but not so severe) when she was 5 months old and they videotaped it to show the pediatrician. She said it was nothing to worry about. They brought her to a neurologist who said she was also fine. They brought her to a chiropractor/nutritionist - who said it looked like stomach cramping and asked if she had some recent vaccinations since that could have some residual effects. In the end she outgrew it whatever it was. Niece is now 7 & completely fine.

Hang in there - I can only imagine how scary this is for you. I just wanted to let you know of at least one person that it wound up being nothing.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Tremors?

Videotaping it is a GOOD idea.

I know that the nurses in the hospital told me that she may twitch/jump/start sometimes and that it's normal, just her nervous system continuing to develop because it does'nt develop fully until past a year after birth. Maybe that is just what it is.

I hope everything is okay. Please let us know as soon as you have any news.

I actually took my son to the pediatric neurologist last month for an EEG. He was dislpaying some strange behavior and they wanted to make sure they weren't seizures.I just left a videotape of him shaking. He also would roll his eyes. The test came back normal thank goodness and we have a follow up in January

Re: Tremors?

Had the EEG today. We probably won't get the results till next week because of the holiday. It was sooooo sad to see my baby with all those electrodes stuck to her head. And let me tell you she was NOT HAPPY about it. It took me over 1.5 hrs to get her to fall asleep (they need the babies to sleep to do it). I was so nervous they were gonna make me come another day because we were hogging the room.

Now I just have to wait Chat Icon
