Problem with baby? or not?

This morning DH and I had a massive argument... first one in months, but it wasn't good. All seems to be resolved, but I'm concerned about the stress it caused me regarding the baby.

I had a case of the weepies all day (constant crying even after the fight was resolved, my emotions are running very high, but I hear that part is very normal). Early this afternoon I had a very odd sensation in my lower abdomen as if my uterus was going for a jog or wanted to push out of me through my stomach. I'm slightly under 15 weeks so I thought it would be way too soon to feel fetal movement (but this being my first PG I wouldn't know the difference). It didn't "hurt", just felt wierd... could something have gone wrong? I've had stretching "pains" that I spoke to my doctor last week about, but this was a new feeling. My heart was pounding during the fight and I felt faint... I'm not sure if we damaged the baby.

I tried calling my doctor, but there's a long story... my chart's in his other office b/c I saw a doc last week in the other office. It hasn't made it's way back to the office my doctor primarily practices out of. The secondary office hasn't returned my other call from Monday! I left another message asking for a return call or at least forward my chart already so I can talk to my doctor. Just wanted to know if this "feeling" is grounds for a visit to the hospital?

If your doc isnt returning your call, and your gut is telling you that you need to have this checked out, then i say YES its a reason to go to hospital. You need to take care of you and that baby!!! I hope you feel better..

Re: Problem with baby? or not?

That's the thing... I'm an emotional disaster area... I blew some stuff completely out of proportion this morning... made myself sick over it and ended up unable to eat until about 3pm when I got a chicken salad sandwhich.

I have no cramping, no real pain (other than the little growing pains as the doctor called them), no bleeding, no discharge and now I'm just trying to relax. DH thinks I just got worked up and the new feeling (I told him it felt like my uterus was trying to run away) was either I'm feeling movement or I got a little wake up call that I need to relax a little more and take care of myself, he said he knows it's hard not to let little things bother me since part of pregnancy is that irrational emotional stuff and lots of tears, but he said that I really took something he said out of context and made things a lot worse for myself. I have to admit though, I think I needed a good cry... I feel like I have lots of pent up emotions and sudden concerns about my ability to be a mother. Friends have told me they went through similar feelings and bad bouts of crying and picking fights. If it's something that so many seem to go through - can it really hurt the baby? I really want to find a prenatal yoga class (if I can ever get my doc to call me and give me clearance). I have "The Perfect Pregnancy Workout" which I think has some yoga in it, but I think tonight's a good night to skip the work out, sit on the couch and eat my big chocolate chip cookie... I feel a sudden need for comfort. I'm not usually like this and it's freaking me out a bit, but I guess I have to give myself what I need for once.

What I constantly remind myself of is that if we as a species were so fragile as to spontaneously miscarriage because of stress, then we would have become extinct a long time ago.

If you are uncomfortable and can't reach your doctor, go to the ER. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Take care of yourself.

But if you are not bleeding or cramping, then probably the baby is trying to remind you of your love for your DH. Chat Icon

Leave it to the baby to "kick me in the gut". I really feel fine now... is it true that if there were a problem, I'd know it? DH said that I probably got myself very wound up and it's a sign I need to relax a bit this evening (lots of stress with work and finances and worries over my impending life change when the baby comes). So if there were a problem I take it I'd cramp or bleed or have a discharge? I feel like I want to run to the store and buy one of those devises they use to hear the baby's heartbeat. Probably not necessary. I agree though that fetus' are not as "fragile" as everyone talks about. We would have died out a long time ago if every little stress or one missed meal killed our unborn.

Chat Icon I am sure you and the baby are healthy. It sounds like anxiety to me.

When I was pg and going through some rough spots, I would go shopping. Go to the book store. There are tons of books on pregnancy and your emotions. Also, take a break- go get yourself a mani-pedi, maybe get some cute maternity clothes.

This will pass, hang in there.
