Painting Luan
I have two unfinished luan doors in my apartment that I want to do something with. Can they be stained or painted? Is there something special I need to do to them first?
Thanks!

Re: Painting Luan
I would probably stain before painting. I would think the paint would be sucked into in and would take a million coats. We had luan doors all through the house and we replaced all of them, so I am of no help!

Re: Painting Luan
Thanks Trish. I was thinking of that as an option but it would be a last resort. It would make me compelled to replace all the other doors so they match and I really don't want to do that.

Re: Painting Luan
well, it depends on what you want!
if you want a wood look...then i would stain.
if you want to paint you are going to need a good primer first and it might take a few coats to cover them.

Re: Painting Luan
I would probably go for paint since the other doors in the apartment are just painted but I just wasn't sure if I even had options. Thanks.
