Bat Mitvah
I was invited to one of my former's student's Bat Mitzvahs in Dec. 2 quick questions: how dressy/what to wear? And... what is an appropriate gift - is $100 okay?

I think $100 is fine.
I think what to wear depends on where it is and when it is (Sat night, Sun afternoon) just like a wedding would.

What to wear also depends on how religious the family is...if it's at an orthodox temple you should wear something more covered up than at a reformed, etc.

I agree. try and find out if they're orthodox. if so, I would wear a dress that covers your arms and longer than knee length.
and $100 is fine
